6/29/10 (Tuesday):  This is just a mish-mash of stuff since the last post.  Hopefully I'll be posting some more interesting blogs starting next week when we leave for our trip to Maryland and D.C. with our niece, Katelyn.

Wiley caught some fish (finally) and some crabs on the Daytona Beach Pier.  The guy just down from him caught this small shark.

Mag and I ran away from home one afternoon and had a great lunch at Giovanni's, a little 50's style Italian Restaurant in Winter Park.
I've posted lots of pictures of our closest riverfront park in New Smyrna Beach, but here's another one.  It's just such a peaceful spot, watching the boats go by and the fishermen and joggers enjoying the breeze.

I think that I mentioned that we'd adopted our grandcat, Lily, when Mark moved to New Zealand (I've lost track--it's been a long time since I last blogged).  Anyhow, here's Lily doing her famous head butt to Wiley.  She's a great cat--very laid back and well suited to the full-time RVing lifestyle.

We stopped for a fast food fix one rainy evening (Burger King) and noticed a guy with his hood up.  Pretty soon, another car appeared and hooked up battery charge cables.  Couldn't believe my eyes, though, when I saw what they were doing while they waited for the charge!

We drove to Ocala for a visit with friends Julie and John recently.  It's a very scenic drive.  We especially enjoyed taking a peek at this old country store/Post Office in Evinston, Florida.  It was built in 1884 of heart pine.

Nearby, these cows were beating the heat of the day--it's such a typical Florida scene!

(I told you this blog was going to be a real mish-mash!  Almost up to date now.)

Today we had an appointment with the neurologist.  Wiley's going to be on TV (the Spanish station).  Dr. Gonzalez was being interviewed about the deep brain stimulator, and they filmed Wiley with it turned on and off.  We hope to get a copy of the show.

On the way home, we stopped at Home Depot to get some handles (more on that below).  This rhinosceros beetle was in the parking lot--look at those pincers!

The handles were installed beside the two stairs to the bedroom so Wiley doesn't have to put his hands on the walls when he's going up and down.  (That green thing is Lily's potty, Julie!)

We did another home improvement project last week--but it wasn't as easy.  Our microwave died.  We didn't want to pay someone to come install an RV microwave, so we bought one that was the right size and installed it ourselves.  Of course, that makes it sound easier than it was!  We had to take off the vents from the old one and screw them onto the new one.  It still didn't feel very secure, so we raised it on a couple of blocks.  I was worried it would fall out of the wall when we were underway, so I tried to glue the blocks to the compartment and the microwave legs.  Disaster!  I still have glue on my fingernails!  But it looks good and seems to be secure, so it was worthwhile, I guess.

Okay, now you're up to date on our (not so) exciting life!  We have our last doctor's appointment this Thursday, and then we're off on our vacation!  Hopefully, the blogs from Chincoteague, Baltimore and D.C. will be more exciting.  After that trip, we're planning to visit Tom and family in Michigan and then spend the remainder of the summer in Boone.  Can't wait!

We took early retirement from careers as Executive Assistant (Joyce) and Lawn Care company owner (Wiley). We have been full-time RV'rs since March, 2006. We've taken our RV to Maine, Michigan, California, North Carolina and everything in between. We live in Florida in the winters and travel in the summers. It's a tough life, but someone has to live it!
