5/7/10 - Friday: We're just back from a few days at Little Talbot Island State Park near Jacksonville, FL. We had a blast! We started off with lunch at Singleton's, a tiny restaurant on the St. John's River. The catch of the day lies on ice as you enter. There are working shrimp boats at the dock behind.

We saw a couple of big ships from our seat on the porch. A real experience--and great food!
Then we hopped on the ferry--great short cut!
The campsites were fantastic--very private, lots of tropical vegetation and close to both the ocean and this tidal creek, where Wiley caught lots of crabs!

There were supposed to be painted buntings (beautiful, colorful birds) migrating through the area. I looked everywhere, but never saw them. But there were lots of birds on the beach, like this laughing gull.
We also enjoyed exploring nearby Fernandina Beach.

Lily enjoyed the change of scenery. She's looking at me right now, and I think she's ready for dinner. See you next time!

Love the look of the restaurant - reminds me of J.B.'s in New Smyrna. And Goodrich's in same....I'd be so busy looking out the window I'd almost forget to eat! Loved Fernandina Beach when I was there many years ago. Fond memories.

The restaurant is called Singleton's, and it's smaller and much less modern than J.B.'s! I recommend it!
