8/13/07 (Monday): We're at an inn in Sandusky (MI) this morning, getting ready for a mini adventure driving up the coast of Lake Huron. I hope I'll have some good stories and pics for you in a couple of days.
We decided after work yesterday (I got off at 3 PM) to head east--quite spontaneously! We packed a small bag and an ice chest and were gone within the hour! We're off today and tomorrow and Wiley has a list of lighthouses he wants to visit. The drive thus far has been beautiful--lots of huge farms (mostly corn and soy beans). Many of the fields of corn had signs indicating they were designated to become ethanol.
Stay tuned!

O.K., Ed and Darcy, you are my last hope. Pull up the last photo of that red barn, look at the tree to the left, at the first limb from the ground (on the left), right above the limb is a white head with a black hat (hat is tilted to the left), there are two black eyes and a nose, then there is the limb, and beneath the limb is the teddy's white leg with what could be some kind of package or blanket on his lap! I just asked my neighbor who saw it right away and John now says it looks "just like a teddy bear" in the tree. Of course, he's my husband, and I might have been somewhat forcefully insisting that he had to see that bear! Oh well, you all just have no imagination.
Am looking forward to your new photos, Joyce. How was Vero Beach? Heard the jelly fish were bad along the coast.
We're having a great time. We drove around the "thumb" of Michigan on M25. It runs right along Lake Huron's shore and there are lots of great parks and neat little towns along the way.
Julie, I think what you're seeing is a white house that sits way back behind the barn and to the left. The foliage pattern of the tree does look sort of like a bear, but look at it with a distant house in mind and you'll see what I mean. I was standing in the road right by the that tree, and I think I would have seen a teddy bear in the tree!
Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Now that you told me it was a white house, I've pretty much lost the teddy bear and I can see the white house. No further comments needed! [Smile]
It sounds like you had a nice trip and I can't wait to see your photos.
Can't wait to hear about the Great Lake....I have always wanted to visit them all
Julie~I tried so many times. I would walk away and come back and pull up the picture again but could never see it. Must be like that picture with the old woman and the young lady in one everyone sees differently :)
Vero beach was a nice escape. Katelyn put metal detecting on hold for her fishing pole but she didn't catch anything. David caught a blue and his Dad cooked it when we came home. There were many tarpon frolicking going after small fish~David caught one but wasn't prepared hook line or sinker and it got away. Always nice to get back home...thankfully we didn't see any jellyfish
