The rest of the Dykes clan went up to Lincolnville for a much publicized strawberry festival. Apparently it was very small town--one flat bed truck made up the parade (which they missed), and there was almost nothing left of the strawberry shortcake and strawberry pie. They enjoyed the drive anyhow.
Katelyn and I went wading in the stream that runs through the campground and eventually splits in two and forms two small waterfalls that fall into the sea over the bluff. It was fun. We are cooking up a scheme: I'm going to write a children's book about Maine and Katelyn's going to illustrate it. She's already started on a picture of Louise, the seagull who visited the lobster boat. She's also drawn a very creditable lobster. She's quite a good artist with an eye for detail. I think we might be on to something!Tomorrow they're going to Acadia for their last full day in Maine. One of the campers who was checking out had an admission ticket left that was still good for a couple of days, and they gave it to us, so they get to go for free. I know they're going to have a great time. We sure enjoyed our visit there.
Have a great evening everyone. I'll post again in a couple of days.

We are having a great time in Maine--I'm so glad you're enjoying the blog! We are still planning to come to Norway for a visit 2008.
Please give my best to your mother. We're so glad my father was able to meet his Norwegian family before he passed away.
My mother send her best regards ard thanks to you both. It`s summertime and vacation. Our student is home from Trondheim and we have strawberry for dessert. Life is good!!
Your crown vetch reminded me that yesterday enroute to Tampa, John and I passed several fields full of bright yellow flowers. Where's Wiley when we need him? I'm assuming they were wild but we didn't know. I was on I-75 so we couldn't stop to take a picture as it was on the other side of the road. It was very beautiful though.
The black eyed susans are in bloom up here, and they grow in FL, too. They're bright yellow with a brown "eye" in the center.
I know. It could have been black-eyed susans but driving at 70 mph and trying to sightsee is most impossible for me. What I find very fascinating is that someone from Norway seems like they are right here with us on your adventure. I think this blog is quite exciting -- it's fun and I am definitely learning a lot about Maine.
Wenche is my cousin. She and her mother, Bergliot, and daughter, Malin, visited us in Orlando. We are going to visit them in Norway in 2008. I had posted on a geneaology bulletin board in Norway, and she found me. She had pictures of my grandparents and great grandparents. We had a great time getting to know each other and have been in touch ever since. Isn't the internet great?!
