9/28/06 (Thursday): This is a very sad day for us. We had Monkey euthanized this morning. Her kidneys have been failing for about a month now, and she had a very bad night last night. We decided early this morning that it was just a matter of timing and we were going to need to do it sooner or later. We're replacing the flooring in the camper and getting ready to make a very long trip back to Florida, and it just didn't seem fair to put her through that.

Monkey has been a joy to us for 19 years since we found her in our front yard where she was almost killed by a pack of dogs. She was quirky, smart, affectionate and funny. We'll miss her.

She was actually about 20 years old because the vet thought she was at least a year old when she foundn us. That's about 100 years old in people years.

I hear you're having a boy--congrats!

Just read your blog,so sorry to hear about Monkey. She was so loveable. I know you are missing her, but you have good memories of her and Peanut, may they bring you peace. Again I'll say you are great, to all your living kin be it human or animal. Hope that includes me and papa. :( See you soon.

I'm so sorry about Monkey. I've donated to my local cat pet shelter in Monkey's memory. Also, thank you for sharing your rv experiences with a future (3 years to go) fulltimer.
