6/16/07 (Saturday): We've finally got some warm weather here, and the campground is bustling. Everyone seems to be having a great time. The kids were in the water and riding bikes all day. Now there are campfires popping up everywhere. On Saturday nights, there's a hay ride--kids are free, grown ups are $1. Steve, the owner, pulls the wagon with a shiney green tractor that has a horn that makes animal noises. The kids were eating it up!

Yesterday and today, I worked from 1-5 PM greeting campers. It's pretty simple--I sit in the golf cart until they drive up, then I say "Welcome to KOA, do you have a reservation?" I direct them to pull into the appropriate part of the parking lot so they can go and register. Wiley cleaned algae out of the lake yesterday, and today he and I sprayed the dirt roads with a salt water solution to keep the dust down (it's very dry here). It was fun!

David seems to be having fun, too, although all he wants to do is fish! Wiley has taken him out to Lake Michigan every morning, and every evening he fishes in the two lakes here. He's had pretty good luck! Here's the proof:

We work tomorrow afternoon, and then Monday we take David to the airport. We'll stay overnight with Tom and Kristin and head back Tuesday.

That fishing bug comes in the genes. I've been in the family 51 years and I've have seen his great grandfather and greaat granmother fish whenever they had time off. The family still fishes, just like the lOrd and His disciples. David is in good company. Thanks, for giming him the chance to fish. He has made good memories :-)

It's a good thing I have separate interests from Wiley to keep me busy while he's fishing! One of the days when they fished, I sat on the dock and crocheted. Beautiful scenery here!

Last night we played a game called "Farkel"--hilarious! Dave was within one move of winning when I made an impossible recovery and eventually won. He's a good sport and we'll miss having him around.

David made it home last night about seven. Had a GREAT time. All he could talk about or wanted to talk about was the good fishing. He said Uncle Wiley caught a BIG TROUT and David didn't hold the net right or did somthing wrong and it got away. Uncle Wiley forgave him. That a reason to go back to catch the one that got away. All in all, a good time was had by a fourteen year old on summer vacation. Thanks Aunt Joyce and Uncle Wiley. David enjoys eating fish and his Dad is the best fish cooker around Mag

We enjoyed having Dave. We had fried fish one night while he was here, and he enjoyed it. I liked it okay, but there wasn't a whole lot, so I left it for the guys and ate macaroni and cheese instead.
